CMA India is an elite professional certification crafted to cultivate global leaders in financial stewardship, corporate strategy, cost management, and business analytics.

1. Eligibility & Entry Routes

Foundation Entry

Qualification: Passed Class 10+2 from a recognized board.
Target: High school graduates seeking a complete foundation from scratch.

Direct Entry Route

Qualification: Graduates in any discipline (except Fine Arts) or ICSI/ICA(I) Intermediate passes.
Benefit: Bypasses the Foundation level straight into Intermediate.

2. Course Structure & Stages

Foundation Level

Papers: 4 Papers (Economics, Management, Accounting, etc.)
Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT).

Intermediate Level

Structure: 2 Groups (8 Papers total)
Prerequisite: Mandatory computer & skill training completion.

Final Level

Structure: 2 Groups (8 Papers total)
Focus: Advanced corporate finance, strategic cost management, and governance.

3. Exam Pattern & Exemption Guidelines

Exam Pattern & Passing Criteria

Frequency: Conducted bi-annually (June & December).
Marking Strategy: Objective and subjective mix per paper.
Passing Marks: Minimum 40% marks in each individual paper and an overall aggregate of 50% across papers in a group.

The 60% Exemption Rule

Paper-Wise Exemption: If you score 60 or more marks in any individual paper, you are granted an exemption for that paper.
Validity: Valid for the next 3 consecutive examination attempts.
Carry Forward: Marks can carry forward if group aggregates aren’t met.

4. Practical Training (Articleship)

Duration: A minimum of 15 months of full-time practical training.
Where to Do It: Under a Practicing Cost Accountant (PCMA) or within an ICMAI-approved corporate organization/industry empanelment list.
Core Domains: Exposure covers cost auditing, taxation (GST/Direct Tax), financial accounting, MIS, and ERP systems.
Registration: Training details must be formally logged on the ICMAI portal via Form T-4 upon joining.
